…to think that so soon after posting about Alfred Hitchcock, I came across this and missed including it, but I will add it now so you can watch a great interview with Tom Snyder on The Tomorrow Show from 1973. I remember as a kid my friends made fun of Tom Snyder, mainly doing bad Dan Ackroyd imitations from Saturday Night Live and not realizing what a truly great show he had then. Look at Letterman now, or Leno, or even Charlie Rose… Where are the unknown musical acts, or the dangerous guests? It’s nothing like what Tom had going. I remember the John Lydon The Sex Pistols interview, Harlan Ellison, John Lennon, and Wendy O. Williams and the Plasmatics blowing shit up! I would get my mom to loan me money to buy an album of a band I had seen on Tom’s show, or a book by an author he had interviewed.
…I love the films of, Henri-Georges Clouzot, of course, but I have always loved Romy Schneider! To me, she really was an amazing beauty!

In this documentary the awesome Paul Merton looks at the early life and work of Alfred Hitchcock. It concentrates mainly on his London made movies. I was very impressed with this show! Not much out there about his early films, so I dig this very much. Well done. I also really liked this documentary featuring a interesting mix of commentators like Larry Cohen, Sean S. Cunningham, Joe Dante, Ernest Dickerson, F.X. Feeney, Carl Franklin, Keith Gordon, Stuart Gordon, George Kuchar, Drew McWeeny, Daniel Minahan, Victor Salva, David J. It’s like it’s a competition! I love movies about becoming something, like a band, a famous painter, or a hideous monster. If “Becoming Something” was a genre, it would be my favorite. I thought this film was pretty good and they even looked like the guys a bit.
